New feature to the Blog
Over the weekend I added Google's gvisit.com to the blog. You can find it about 1/4 of the way down the page in the right column. This feature allows a blogger to see their last five visitors. How is this different than Site Meter? GVisit will allow a person to use Google Maps to track both a map and satellite image down to very close range of these recent visitors.
Review: It has mixed results, in my opinion. I have found that it often takes up to an hour or more for GVisit to register recent visitors, whereas Site Meter will track it instantaneously. In addition, there are some visitors that for some reason GVisit never picks up. But in those cases where it does work, it is very fascinating. And brings the term "Big Brother is watching you" to a whole new level.
Visit the blog and then check back a while later and see if it registers. If so, let me know if the location it gives (right down to the street name) is accurate. I'm curious to really see how it works.
